DataPlayer Tile Views

Tile View DataPlayers

Award-winning online product selectors...

Tile View DataPlayers can be configured to play a wide range of roles on websites. They can be used to display images, as in the CameraFinder and company directory example below, or as coloured tile 'heat maps' showing relative differences among records across several dimensions using colouring and sizing of the tiles representing each record. The tiles are interactive, so clicking on an image/tile will display the details for that record, including a potentially much larger image drawn from the web server, rather than from within the DataPlayer itself, which only holds images at 'thumbnail' size.

CameraFinder

The award-winning CameraFinder is an example of a DataPlayer image mosaic product selector made using the Tile View. Use the Filter Bar sliders to define a shortlist, then click Details to review the candidates using Next > and < Previous with larger images and links to online retailers. Click X to close the Details window. Click Reset to reposition all filters and view all the candidates.

When used as image mosaics, the embedded images are scaled down depending on the number of images which must be displayed on opening. A set of larger, higher-resolution images can be displayed from the online folder in the Details window, where the user is looking at one record/item at a time.

Company Directory

Company directories come to life in DataPlayers. Use the Filter Bar to narrow your search. Use the vertical slider to see all available filter devices. Once you have narrowed your search to a shortlist of candidates, only their images will be showing. Click Details and use Next > and < Previous to see larger pictures and all values for each person. Click X to close the details window. To reset the filters and see all the people again, click Reset.

Of course, in a real directory you would include many text identifiers, such as Names, Numbers, e-mail addresses etc. that would all be instantly searchable, keystroke by keystroke. All the data can be maintained in Omniscope, no database required, and very easy to update. DataPlayers can be posted on intranets, extranets or the open web. DataPlayers can also be embedded into common documents, although it is not currently possible to embed the  image-based Tile Views in offline documents.

Product Catalogue

In the example below, each row is a style of shoe. Notice how selection by sizing displays the shoes available for that size, even though each shoe available in many sizes, i.e. a one-to-many relationship. Omniscope allows you to enter multiple values in a cell (in this case all the sizes available for each shoe) as a 'tokenized' value with a separator character between values, such as a comma.

In this case, only one image for each shoe model appears in the details window. All DataPlayers can be configured to display one or more external images in the details window. If multiple images (either multiple image references in a single tokenized column or multiple image set columns) are selected, then the multiple images will be displayed as a slide show.
